About the Role:
As a Vice President, you are a key leader in defining a culture that aligns with and further enables our tremendous growth. You possess strong organizational management and technical skills that, in combination, allow you to develop well-balanced processes and solutions that deliver significant organizational value.
In an evolving interactive entertainment landscape, the game developer experience is central to driving creator engagement, catalog growth and platform differentiation to deliver on a vision to be the best place for creators.The VP of Software development will lead global software engineering teams focused on the lower layers of software development, including operating systems,Software Development Kits for both external and internal developers. This leader will shape the future of the Game Development Environment at PlayStation, ensuring a seamless experience from development to publishing while ensuring a frictionless experience to support multiple platforms.
Reporting to the Head of Foundational Systems and Experiences Engineering, this high-impact leadership role will be responsible for technical direction, fostering cross-regional cohesion, and cultivating a high-performing and inclusive engineering culture across our global offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Global Teams: Direct and grow distributed software development teams across multiple regions, fostering alignment and consistent delivery on a shared roadmap.
Cultural Leadership: Serve as a cultural ambassador, building a collaborative and inclusive environment that connects engineering hubs and unites teams under common goals and values. - Strategic Vision: Define and execute a global software strategy focused on core system components such as SDKs for Game, and development environments.
Drive Cohesion: Champion seamless collaboration between global engineering offices, ensuring transparency, information flow, and unity across time zones and cultures.
Stakeholder Partnership: Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Product, Design, Platform, as well as external SDK and tooling partners to deliver integrated solutions. - Developer Environment: Lead the creation and evolution of seamless, scalable developer environments that enable rapid, high-quality software development to support multiple platforms and generations.
- Talent & Culture: Attract, retain, and grow world-class engineering talent, ensuring technical excellence while promoting mentorship, feedback, and continuous learning.
- Value-Driven Leadership: Embody and promote a values-based leadership approach rooted in transparency, integrity, and collaboration.
- Data-Driven Decision: Transform the team to a data-driven decision process, based on actual usage of each feature and identify pain points of developer experiences.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (10+ years) leading large, geographically diverse software development teams.
- Deep expertise in system software, operating systems, SDK integration, and developer tooling.
- A strong track record of building high-trust, cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent communication skills with a global, multicultural mindset.
- Experience managing across multiple geographies, especially in complex matrix organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead with empathy, integrity, and a focus on long-term impact.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field; advanced technical degrees or executive education a plus.
Preferred
- Prior experience with developer ecosystem platforms or open-source initiatives.
- Familiarity with agile, DevOps, and CI/CD best practices.
- Background in building or maintaining developer-facing tools and infrastructure.
