We are looking for new Patient Safety Partners tojoin Devon Partnership Trust Patient Safety team. PatientSafety Partners are an important voice for patients and communities and ensurethat the patient, service user, carer, or family member perspective is at theforefront of all that we do to improve patient safety.

Devon Partnership Trust Patient Safetyteam supports the organisation to continuously improve patient safety. There is much positive changecurrently to support the development of a safety culture within ourOrganisation and this role will contribute to these efforts. Patient Safety Partners bring important views, perspective, and challenge, which help ourteams to make healthcare services safer for all.
Main duties of the job
What you will be doing as a PSP:
- Working side by side with healthcare professionals, decisionmakers and experts on a variety of projects that match your interests, skills, andavailability.
- Actively ensuring your perspective as an advocate, service user,carer, or patient is heard and has a real positive impact on healthcare.
- Learning new skills and knowledge and making connections with awide range of people interested in patient safety.
- Influencing multi-professional groups and national and regional committeesfrom the perspective of your patient, service user or community voice.
What you can expect as a PSP:
- Support including mentorship,training, and opportunities
- Opportunities to collaborate with other PSPs and NHS staff
- Mostof the PSP role is undertaken during the working day and will usually be onlineusing Microsoft Teams. You will be ableto claim an involvement fee of £75 per half day (four hours or less) or £150per day (more than 4 hours) formost of your involvement. Youwill also be able to claim for some expenses.

Experience
- Interaction with people and groups with differing and sometimes challenging viewpoints.
- Experience of working in partnership with professional and/or community organisations.
- Experience of championing diversity and inclusion, challenging inequalities, or speaking up.
- Lived experience of patient safety challenges and their impact.
- Passionate about healthcare.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of and broad interest in health care and patient safety, for example as a patient, service user, family member, carer or advocate. Understanding of the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in healthcare.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with a range of different people, including with senior professionals and leaders.
- Ability to clearly and respectfully express views and experiences, as an advocate for patient safety.
- Sound judgement and an ability to be objective.
- Ability to read, understand and evaluate a range of information and evidence in English, such as Board reports, quantitative numerical data and research studies.
- Able to speak up about their views, and where appropriate represent the views of others.
