Junior Design Engineer

We’re looking for a creative and technically minded Junior Design Engineer to join our independent design studio in Shoreditch.
At Native, design meets innovation to create experiences that inspire. As a Design Engineer, you’ll support the development of meaningful and manufacturable products across a range of exciting projects. You’ll apply your solid foundation in design engineering to bring concepts to life – balancing functionality, quality, and cost.
Working alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you’ll get involved in all phases of the design process – from early-stage idea generation and prototyping to testing and iteration. You’ll also have opportunities to grow your skills and take increasing ownership as part of a supportive, design-led environment.

Your profile

We’re not just after technical skills – we want someone who brings curiosity, collaboration, and creativity to everything they do. Here\’s a sense of the Design Engineer we’re hoping to meet:

• Practically Creative: You’re confident with the core design skills – CAD, prototyping, testing – and you know how to apply them within structured processes.
• Supportive Collaborator: You work closely with senior engineers and are eager to learn. You’re receptive to feedback and use it to refine ideas and improve designs.
• Design Communicator: You can express design intent clearly, both within the team and in documentation, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Team-player: While your focus is within the design team, you\’re beginning to engage with cross-functional teams to contribute to broader outcomes.
• Organised & Effective: You manage your time well and can balance quality with deadlines.
• Client Aware: You may not lead client interactions yet, but you’re comfortable attending meetings with senior members and contributing when appropriate.
• Quality-Conscious: You follow quality management procedures and understand how to meet certification and compliance requirements.
