Our engineering teams, located in New Malden, UK , and Hamburg, Germany , work closely together to develop and maintain a wide range of navigation products, with an ambitious roadmap for future innovations.
We are currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our Engineering Department in New Malden. This role will play a key part in our radar sensor development team, focusing on firmware and embedded software development for maritime navigation systems.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Work in the Hardware team to develop firmware on SoC platforms for new and existing products.
- Take ownership and responsibility for current and future design for developed SoC platforms.
- Collaborate closely with the Embedded Software and System Test teams during system integration activities.
- Maintain and improve FPGA development processes, workflows, and tools.
- Work autonomously in a focused, agile team, contributing high-quality results from the outset.
About You
Weβre looking for a motivated and detail-oriented engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong technical foundation. Ideal candidates will have:
- Deep understanding of System on Chip (SoC) based design and build environment.
- Experience with HDL coding and test benching (VHDL, Verilog).
- Proficiency in software languages, C (or C++), with additional languages considered useful.
- Knowledge of Bash, TCL, or Python.
- Ability to understand and capture requirements to develop solutions and create professional technical documentation.
- Experience with Vivado is required; Xilinx (AMD) preferred.
- Familiarity with other FPGA vendors' tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of peripheral buses like I2C, SPI.
- Experience with AXI bus interconnect and memory interfaces such as SDRAM and DDR.
- Understanding of asynchronous interfaces, Linux OS, networking protocols (TCP/IP, UTP, CAT240), device trees, and device drivers.
- Familiarity with RF transceivers and prior radar system experience is desirable.
