About the Role

As a Family Practitioner within our Thriving Families programme, you will provide drug and/or alcohol support to parents within a family intervention framework, working with families known to Child Protection or Child in Need Plans alongside a team of Social Work professionals to keep the family unit intact.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing holistic support to families, including comprehensive assessments and developing individualized recovery plans.
  • Conducting case management and maintaining accurate case management systems, reports, and notes.
  • Working with a multi‑agency team (Family Help, Mental Health Practitioners, Domestic Abuse Workers) to deliver wrap‑around support.
  • Delivering training and consultation to other professionals on substance‑misuse issues and impacts.
  • Participating in safeguarding activities, contributing to multi‑agency plans, risk identification and safety planning.
  • Visiting families in appropriate settings, including home visits, to embed a holistic family approach.
  • Building and maintaining relationships internally and with external partners.

About You

  • Flexible to work across operational sites and hours to meet service needs.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, training, supervision and keeping up to date with legislation.
  • Experience in safeguarding, policy implementation and building safe work systems.
  • Capacity to undertake duties appropriate to the role.

Details

Location: Manchester

Full‑time hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: £27,861.26 – £32,002.35 (dependent on experience, pro‑rata for part‑time).

Contract: Fixed‑term until 31 October 2026, with possibility to extend subject to review.
