The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead cost management delivery on medium to large projects, acting as the primary commercial contact for clients. The role requires strong technical ability, leadership of junior staff, and the capability to manage complex pre‑ and post‑contract activities while ensuring high-quality delivery.
Your role
- Lead full pre‑contract and post‑contract cost management services
- Develop detailed cost plans, estimates and procurement strategies
- Manage complex tendering processes and undertake negotiations
- Lead change control, risk management, cost assurance and reporting
- Provide strategic commercial advice to clients and senior stakeholders
- Lead value engineering and cost optimisation workshops
- Oversee valuations, financial statements and final accounts
- Manage multiple projects or major packages concurrently
- Mentor, coach and support QS and AQS colleagues
- Contribute to bids, proposals and business development initiatives
- Ensure compliance with internal governance and professional standards
- Work closely with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and to provide expert advice on cost-related issues.
About You
- Degree in Quantity Surveying; chartership (RICS) desirable
- Based in the Manchester office 3 days a week
- Extensive experience delivering cost management services
- Strong technical capability and understanding of wider project lifecycle
- Proven experience interfacing directly with clients
- Ability to manage and mentor junior staff
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
