AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice are looking to appoint a Fire Engineer who is looking to further develop their career within a forward-thinking multi sector practice. This opportunity will involve working as part of a national practice of Design professionals delivering fire engineering design solutions to clients across a wide variety of sectors; including Cities & Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential and Transportation.
There is flexibility around where the role is based because although the majority of our current Fire Engineering team are based in Derby and London offices there is an ambition to grow Fire Engineering teams in the North and South West. Preferred UK locations: Bristol, Epsom, Glasgow, London or Derby.
As a Fire Engineer you will take responsibility for your own projects but also work collaboratively with other team members to develop the team and strengthen technical capability.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a range of sectors from residential buildings through to rail transportation or new energy facilities.
- Service projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards.
- Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.
- Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.
- Support the development of fire strategies.
- Carry out site visits.
- Assess fire related risks in projects and working collaboratively to mitigate where possible.
- Review and comment on the quality of fire safety related installations.
- Undertake tenders for new work.
- Prepare reports, take part in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required
Requirements:
- Engineering degree, preferably fire engineering or alternatively a post graduate qualification in fire engineering (Applicants with different backgrounds also considered).
- Experience working with a range of fire standards including BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992,
- EN45545 would be beneficial.
- Fire modelling experience will be beneficial.
- Experience outside of the building sector would be advantageous.
- Able to work towards chartered fire engineer status.
- A flexible approach to the working environment.
- Willingness to travel will be a positive advantage.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Customer focused.
- Ability to collate information and have a clear and structured approach to report writing.
