Overview:

With a legacy spanning over 200 years, our client is renowned for delivering innovative solutions across a broad range of industries. As part of their ongoing investment in technology, they are seeking a Head of Platform & Infrastructure Engineering to lead both infrastructure and DevOps functions within their London division.
The Role:
This senior role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management across both infrastructure systems and DevOps engineering. You will lead a high-performing team responsible for maintaining, modernizing, and scaling critical enterprise platforms that support global financial operations.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical escalation point and architecture advisor for infrastructure and platform projects.
- Collaborate with the business and IT stakeholders to align infrastructure and platform strategy with organisational goals.
- Ensure all services are secure by design, working closely with the information security team to proactively manage risks.
- Drive service improvement and operational resilience through automation, observability, and DevOps best practices.
Experience Required:
- Proven experience in leading platform/infrastructure and DevOps teams in a hands-on capacity.
- Strong technical foundation in both traditional infrastructure and modern DevOps tooling and methodologies.
- Able to operate at both strategic and detailed technical levels, including architecture, planning, and execution.
- Passion for engineering excellence, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Confident engaging with both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
- Comfortable navigating complex, fast-paced enterprise environments and managing competing priorities.
- Strong experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD, GitOps, IaC (e.g., Terraform, ARM), and automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Cloud experience (ideally Azure) and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and observability platforms.
