Advert This is an exciting opportunity to join our Civil Contingencies Service (CCS), a shared service under the partnership of East Renfrewshire Council, Inverclyde Council, Renfrewshire Council and West Dunbartonshire Council and Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs). As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a number of contingency and business continuity plans and delivering training and exercising to council staff to support these plans. You will also be required to participate in a 24/7 out of hours duty rota to respond to potential emergency situations across the full geographic area using your expertise and knowledge to advise and reassure senior colleagues. Working with relevant national, regional, and local agencies and partners to understand and assess the ongoing and changing nature of risks and threats across the area, liaising with relevant leads in each Council/HSCP; emergency services; health services as well as other key responders and multi-agency bodies. You must have a degree or equivalent qualification / experience in an appropriate business-related discipline, working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and Contingency Planning (Scotland) Regulations 2005 and Preparing Scotland Guidance. We require a self-motivated individual capable of working under their own initiative with effective communication, report writing and presentation skills. The ability to prioritise a challenging, varied workload is also crucial. It is essential you are competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications software. This post requires flexibility in respect of hours to be worked and you will be required to fully contribute to the 24/7 exigency requirements of the service and respond to and attend major incidents, including those occurring out-of-hours. A full UK driving licence is also essential. Recent experience in civil contingencies / emergency planning and experience of project management is desirable.
