Manufacturing Process Engineer

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Location: Lancaster

Salary: Around £35,000 per year

About the Role

An established manufacturing organisation is looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join its operations team. This role will focus on supporting new product launches, enhancing production processes, and driving efficiency through lean methodologies and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve coating and converting processes to reduce waste, enhance safety, and increase efficiency.
  • Lead and support new product launches from initial concept through to full-scale production.
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement projects to improve quality, safety, and process performance.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across R&D, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Partner with maintenance engineers and production teams to ensure effective process integration and troubleshooting.
  • Analyse production data and implement corrective actions to resolve process challenges.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to a variety of engineering and manufacturing projects across the site.

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to support decisions.
  • Confident communicator who can work well in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Keen to develop an in-depth understanding of products and processes.

Desirable:

  • Experience with web coating or converting processes.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Knowledge of SPC and Six Sigma tools.
