Job Description
We are currently seeking an interim Global Assistant Procurement Manager, to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run from August 2025 to October 2026, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £40,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.
The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.
The Beauty & Wellbeing business has a clear ambition to double top line growth and grow margin through big purposeful brand investment and multi-year science-backed premium innovation. To deliver this, there must be seamless integration of both our strategy and its execution, combined with radical simplification across the entire value chain. This will allow us to liberate non-value add costs from the business, improve resilience, agility, and speed to market, whilst also delivering against our sustainability agenda.
As the Assistant Global Procurement Manager – Beauty & Wellbeing, you will be the voice of Procurement to the partnering functions, ensuring procurement representation in the strategic business group agenda and the voice of the business group within Procurement, translating business needs into procurement strategy. You will be in the great position of being able to see both sides, so you can see and drive for extra value that can be created
Role Responsibilities:
- Execution Focus: You will have a clear understanding of the BG strategy and help deliver the GM targets from procurement side. You will lead the implementation of long-term, strategic projects driving BG performance.
- Value Creation: You will drive value creation for the BG within the end-to-end value chain. You will see where programs and activities overlap and drive team x-functional team delivery
- Strategic Influencing: You will use your strategic influencing skills to drive procurement considerations and recommendations within the BG, based on outside market intelligence, whilst also ensuring the procurement strategy is shaped to deliver against the BG agenda
- Leadership: You will connect partners and disruptors to the BG leadership, facilitating market-led innovation growth and cost-saving initiatives
- Collaboration: You will work collaboratively with your peers, sharing and taking best practices for the benefit of the BG and overall procurement community. You will ensure clarity and alignment on ways of working with x-functional partners
Key Deliverables:
- Deliver the B & W procurement Gross Margin roadmap, while working closely with x- function and BU procurement teams.
- Co-create the savings funnel for 2026-2027 for B&W category
- Deliver the x-function Alternate Supplier Approval program for the category.
- Develop and lead material cost transformation in conjunction with R&D, in line with the BG growth ambitions and Procurement Lighthouse
- Routinely provide business-critical data to senior stakeholders (spend, inflation, supplier strategies, mitigation options) to drive decision-making and steer strategic decision-making
Professional Skills:
- Basic level of understanding of portfolios, markets, and financials
- High level of interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
- Proven track record of impactful stakeholder management
- Proven track record of complex project management
Experience Required:
- Ideally 2-3 years working experience, ideally from an FMCG background
- University degree (or equivalent)
- Experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or R&D
- Experience on large-scale change management projects
- Experience operating with key business interfaces and managing multiple stakeholders
- Excellent Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills, using Pivot tables.
