About Motorway

Motorway is the UK’s fastest-growing used car marketplace – our award winning, online-only platform connects private car sellers with over 7,500 verified dealers nationwide, who compete to offer the best price. Founded in 2017, our technology makes the process refreshingly easy, earning us an 'Excellent' Trustpilot rating with over 70,000 reviews. We're not just building a platform; we're changing how people sell cars.

Backed by leading investors like Index Ventures and ICONIQ Growth, and following a successful $190 million funding round, we're on a mission to transform the used car market.

About the job

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Seller team.

This isn't just about moving conversion metrics. You'll be transforming the entire experience of selling what's typically someone's most prized possession after their house. This role combines deep consumer-facing product expertise with a strong track record in growth to create experiences that serve our customers and drive significant business impact. We are looking for somebody who has shipped consumer products at scale that people love to use.

What you will do

  • Define and communicate a compelling product vision and roadmap for Motorway’s seller experience, aligned with company objectives

  • Be seen as a thought leader within Motorway on the seller experience and conversion

  • Drive business Impact: Own specific revenue/growth metrics and demonstrate how you are driving not just impact for Motorway but also creating significant value for our customers

  • Make your product team 2x more effective, not 2x busier

  • Place 3-5 big strategic bets per year that could each be company-changing wins

  • See through the hundreds of good ideas to identify the greatest product opportunities (and explain why)

Execution & Delivery

  • Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, data scientists, and other specialists. Structure problems, so your team produces breakthrough work, not incremental iterations

  • Drive product development from concept through launch, ensuring quality and customer impact

  • Obsess about the data and customer delight. Use data to drive deep understanding and to craft compelling storytelling around your work

  • Make complex tradeoff decisions balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities.

  • Establish rigorous experimentation frameworks and data-driven decision making processes. Run experiments that produce learning even when they fail

Cross-functional working

  • Collaborate across the org on strategic initiatives and quarterly planning

  • Brilliantly communicate the what, the how and the why and produce crisp, compelling data-led documentation

Requirements

  • Solid experience in product management, with a proven track record of shipping products that moved meaningful business metrics, ideally within a world-class B2C product

  • Highly analytical individual, with excellent problem-solving skills and understanding of data science and machine learning concepts. You must be able to talk compellingly on how you utilise data to drive impact, and be able to rigorously debate data approaches with your DS/ML counterparts.

  • Ability to zoom between pixel-level details and quarterly planning without losing coherence

  • Strong experience with experimentation and AB testing, formulating and testing hypotheses and telling a story based on the data harvested

  • You thrive translating complex data insights into actionable product strategies

  • Passionate about user-centric product development, possessing a deep understanding of user research methodologies to give great customer experiences

  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, and have demonstrated the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver products and features that drive significant business outcomes

  • Results-oriented, adept at delivering projects quickly while adapting to new information/feedback to challenge and validate assumptions

  • A passion for product management as a discipline and a drive to continuously iterate and improve ways of working

  • Self-starter and proactive individual who loves to collaborate, with a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude

  • A curious mindset and ability to quickly develop strong domain knowledge.

  • You are passionate about the automotive industry and excited about the opportunity to revolutionise the used car market.

Benefits

  • A competitive salary

  • Annual learning budget – with your learning budget, you can pay for learning experiences to support your progression.

  • BUPA health insurance
