The Head of Testing will be responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining testing protocols for all product categories featured on The Telegraph's Recommended channel.
This will involve working with the Recommended Commissioning Editors and The Telegraph's Insights and Analytics team to build robust protocols and scoring systems that ensure only the best products feature in our buying guides and reviews.
Key responsibilities
- Research proposed product categories and build testing protocols for products featured on Recommended
- Create an overarching scoring system that translates into star ratings on Recommended content
- Work with the Recommended Commissioning Editors to acquire and keep track of product samples for testing and be responsible for their distribution to expert testers and storage.
- Work with the Recommended Commissioning Editors to build a database of experts
- Work with the Insights and Analytics team to build reader panel surveys and forums to gather both quantitative and qualitative data on products undergoing testing
- Create and maintain a product database that stores historical testing and results
- Work with the syndication team to build a portfolio of Recommended logos that are backed by sound and consistent testing methodology.
- Work with commercial teams to ensure awareness of products being tested across all verticals
- Work with the Recommended production team to ensure testing is represented accurately on site and across all digital platforms in a visually engaging way
- Build a long-term testing strategy that expands the current role of testing in Recommended content, for example by building reader panels or scoping the need for a testing facility.
- Excellent market research skills, including survey creation and analysis of results
- Experience analysing quantitative and qualitative data
- Experience creating testing protocols and scoring systems, ideally for consumer products, is desirable
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with an eye for small details
- A proactive attitude and the curiosity to understand consumers within the product review space
- Ability to manage and analyse datasets to provide clear product recommendations.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience translating complicated data sets into digestible formats
- Experience building and/or managing consumer research panels would be beneficial
