Part Time – To attend RCS Board meetings (12 per annum)

Description
Waste and recycling services are some of the only functions (alongside street cleansing) any authority delivers which every resident and visitor to the borough experiences daily. Therefore, the quality of these services and the value for money they represent to any council is of paramount importance.
In 2019, the London Borough of Redbridge (LB Redbridge) set up a Local Authority Trading Company (LATCo), Redbridge Civic Service Ltd (RCS), with the key objective of providing a high-quality recycling and waste collection service to LBR and its customers cost effectively and efficiently.
The core business of RCS Ltd is to collect recyclable and residual and green waste from households. RCS is a Company which is ‘of the Council’ but different, combining commercial expertise with a commitment to public service.
We are looking to appoint a new Non-Executive Board Member who is innovative, ambitious, and inspirational to lead RCS Ltd through its next stage of development.
Non-Executive Board Member
There is much to do at RCS, and we will look to the board to govern and safeguard the quality standards of our recycling and waste collection management services, providing oversight and challenge, to ensure the services we deliver to Redbridge residents are the best they can be.
As an independent Non-Executive Board Member, you will act as an ambassador for RCS Ltd, always acting in the best interest of the Company and contributing proactively and constructively to the board's discussions to direct the affairs of the Company. As a member of the Board, you are expected to work closely with other members of the Board to provide leadership and direction and support the Board in fulfilling their responsibilities for delivery of RCS strategic objectives. We are looking for someone who brings strong waste management, commercial and customer service experience, with the ability to maximise and optimising financial performance and service delivery. Whilst you may have Non-Executive Board experience, what is more important to us is your commitment to providing the best possible Waste Management services, and a real passion for the London Borough of Redbridge.
