Job summary – What to expect:

As a Support Controls Engineer, you be part of an experienced team of XXX peers. You will be expected to provide controls expertise to the business and supporting in all controls related breakdowns. You will be work closely with our Machine Operators, Maintenance and IT daily and assist in the developing of other engineering support departments through coaching, training and mentoring.

Here at CooperVision, you will be working in a highly regulated environment that conforms to the requirements of ISO13485, ISO14971 etc and therefore an Understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems, medical device/pharmaceutical, FDA, GAMP, ISO and International regulatory requirements would be beneficial. This role is typically working in a normal office environment however, there is a requirement to work within all areas of manufacturing including, machining and maintenance workshops and manufacturing clean rooms. This will result in the job holder wearing appropriate protective clothing in these areas.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Provide controls support expertise to Manufacturing Support groups, to identify and rectify controls related breakdowns
  • Further improve controls system through identifying root cause for issues and generating improvement plans to drive continuous improvements
  • Maintain Software Change Control logs
  • Provide technical support to configure, populate and support OEE data collection.
  • Assist Manufacturing Support Group development through coaching, mentoring and training on control systems and platforms across UK Manufacturing
  • Assist in the design and development, implementation, documentation, validation and support of controls systems for new processes and Engineering changes
  • Maintain good communication with Manager and other members of team to ensure that improvement plans are actioned and followed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems, medical device/pharmaceutical, FDA, GAMP, ISO and International regulatory requirements
  • Good knowledge of;
  • Competence with the following is desirable;
  • Experience of Manufacturing Process Systems and interfaces to higher level systems (Batch tracking, Production planning).
  • Experience of ISO/ FDA software validation requirements, audits and change control
  • PLC, SCADA Programming packages including RSLogix500, Studio5000
  • Integrated Safety including; GuardLogix, Pilz
  • SCADA Applications including; RSView32, HMI including: FTView ME
  • HMI including: FactoryTalk View ME
  • Networks including; Ethernet, EtherNet IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, ASI and ProfiBus, OPC, ODBC
  • Elau, CoDeSys
  • Zenon HMI
  • SQL & VBA
  • Perform OEE

About you:

We are looking for someone who puts both our internal and external customer needs first and with this, can prioritise the needs of these customers, multi-tasking the demands of a 24/7 manufacturing process. Working within a diverse environment, the successful postholder will be able to build relationships with colleagues across different departments and teams.

Experience & Education:

  • ONC or Equivalent Experience in Electrical/Electronic/Controls discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar engineering role
  • Proven competence with SCADA and PLC controls systems for automated equipment
  • Experience of ISO/ FDA software validation requirements, audits and change control
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Environment, preferably medical device or pharmaceutical fields
  • Experience of working with cross-site, multinational, multi-disciplinary teams
