The quality of the \’skin\’ of your building is about much more than achieving the aesthetic vision; it\’s about buildability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
What makes a façade function properly? Apart from obvious considerations like weather resistance, airtightness, and safety, a key factor is the energy impact on the building itself. An efficient, buildable façade contributes to a better building, and we continually strive to provide more efficient skins.
A thorough knowledge of façade construction enables us to manage projects from concept design through to construction details, operation, maintenance, and refurbishment options. Whether working on intricate designs like the Louvre Abu Dhabi or repurposing historic buildings like the Grade II Listed Whiteleys in London, we apply engineering and surveying rigor.
Whiteleys Redevelopment, London – This multi-use project in a Grade II listed building combines large precast and glazing systems with specialist advice on historic facades. Our guidance supported planning discussions and led to innovative glazing solutions that set a benchmark for conservation projects. We also advise on assessing and monitoring historic fabric during construction to preserve the building\’s significance for future generations.
Bee’ah Headquarters, UAE – Designed to embody environmental responsibility, this building features a sweeping curved exterior resembling intersecting sand dunes. Using our experience with complex geometries like Glasgow Museum of Transport and City of Dreams Macau, we developed a long-span structure with prefabricated steel ribs, facilitating transport and assembly on-site.
