The Boeing Phantom Works team is currently seeking a Mission Systems Lead Engineer to work in Berkeley, MO. We’re seeking a highly talented, motivated, and creative engineer to support the existing and new capabilities of a leading-edge technology program.
Our Phantom Works team develops and integrates advanced mission systems components and technologies into functioning demonstration systems. This position encompasses leading a multi-disciplined team through all phases of system development. Collaboration and teamwork are critical to achieving first-time quality in our dynamic development environment.
The mission systems lead engineer will experience the entire development lifecycle from working with customers and other stakeholders to establish system requirements to product deployment in customer systems. The position requires technical skills, people skills and leadership skills. The project lead engineer will work with engineers and non-engineers with multiple different skill sets including mechanical and electrical engineering, software engineering, manufacturing, and test engineering.
The day-to-day work includes: 1) defining system requirements and system designs for complex new mission systems integrations; 2) working with a multi-disciplined team to implement the system designs; 3) working with and managing suppliers; 4) managing project performance and reporting back to program leadership; 5) being the primary customer interface for the project; and 6) hands-on system component and system integration testing.
Position Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with customers and other stakeholders to define system requirements and system designs for complex new mission systems integrations.
- Lead a multi-disciplined team to implement system designs with focus on quality and safety.
- Lead customer project reviews.
- Manage suppliers to ensure compliance with cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
- Manage overall project cost and schedule performance and report to program management.
- Primary customer interface for the project.
- Develop verification plans and procedures; support test execution; document test results to ensure system requirements are met.
- Support system deployment on customer systems.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Berkeley, MO
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Level 6: 20+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of technical education and work-related experience Experience developing or integrating avionics or mission systems
- Experience with technical leadership and team leadership
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with Earned Value Management
- Experience with supplier management
Typical Education/Experience:
Level 6: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years\’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:
Level 6: $170,000 – $230,000
