Mechanical Team Leader – Paper Machine
Job Description
Specific Tasks: (this list is not exhaustive)
People management and leadership
– Responsible for personnel issues within own team and according to HR policies
– Managerial responsibility over a team, including performance, compensation, absence management and disciplinary issues
– Continuous development of team skills and efficiency through coaching, leading, motivating and providing development and training opportunities

Maintenance Operations
– Be actively responsible for setting the standards with respect to general housekeeping & up keep of the plant
– Observance of mechanical standards & ensuring regulatory compliance
– Coordination & execution of planned & reactive maintenance for the respective production areas
– Develop the long term maintenance & outage plans
– Direct the maintenance work flow using the Saica CMMS (MAXIMO) to ensure plant defects & preventative maintenance plans are efficiently effected
– Responsible for achieving high work order completion rate & low work order
– Supporting production and maintenance activities to reach Key Performance Indicators and other targets set
– Help develop the plant CapEx investment plans
– Direct the root cause analysis of plant failures & efficiency losses.
– Prescribe the preventative maintenance routines (PM) to ensure that all assets are running effectively
– Ensure front line reactive maintenance through liaison with Operations Team & the Maintenance Department
– The ability to deputize for other members of the maintenance department as requested
– The ability to coach, train & mentor other members of the maintenance department as requested
– Support integration of a reliability centered maintenance program
– Support development and improvement projects within responsibility area
Cost control
– Define planned costs for a work order
– Cost control and follow up of costs within own area
– Evaluate and analyse cost of external labour, scaffolding, hire equipment, spare parts, etc.
– Follow up of maintenance budget within own area
– Approval of costs based on approval limits
KPI
– Supporting production and maintenance activities to reach Key Performance Indicators and other targets set
Health & Safety
– Follow the Site H&S procedures, practices and propose improvements
– Report any problems and issues immediately following site procedures
– Promote site H&S standards and challenge where necessary
– Lead H&S investigations
– Undertake allocated H&S actions
– Ensure awareness of current legislative and statutory requirements to maintain site compliance
– Audit site maintenance activities to ensure site safety standards are followed
Environmental
– Responsible for environmental aspects in own area.
– Follow the site environmental procedures, practices and propose improvements.
– Report any problems and issues immediately by using the site procedures
– Ensure site environmental critical equipment is maintained to relevant Mechanical standard
Quality
– Ensure site quality critical equipment is maintained to relevant Mechanical standard
– Suggest innovations to ensure customer satisfaction is guaranteed
– Audit quality of site maintenance activities
