Head of Marine Operations – Permanent – UK – Excellent package
Navis have partnered exclusively with one of the worlds leaders in Maritime Services. The company has a worldwide presence and operates a fleet of more than 400 vessels in 100 ports in 18 countries on 4 continents
The UK fleet has more than doubled in size in recent years and due to continued expansion, they are now looking to recruit a Head of Marine Operations to join the senior management team in the UK. This is a strategic leadership role reporting to the General Manager.
The role is office based and can be based from either Liverpool, Hull or Essex.
Responsibilities
The Head of Marine Operations, is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all towage activities in the UK and organises the operations in such a way that they deliver exceptional performance to their customers.
- Lead, motivate, and support large teams, geographically spread across the UK.
- Ensure the development of the operations department through work design, training and coaching to
- achieve operational goals.
- Contribute to the annual business plan for the area.
- Create the operational budget for the area, as part of the UK budget.
- Ensure the efficiency of rendered services is monitored to ensure capacity is used as efficiently as
- possible and to improve future work methods.
- Ensure compliance with Safety and Company procedures in cooperation with the HSEQ Manager, UK.
- Responsible for sustainable and efficient fleet utilisation and capacity.
- Liaise with various external parties, like harbour authorities etc. to ensure the company’s interests are
- considered when decisions are made that may affect the company’s activities.
- Manage conflicts and business negotiations.
- Lead new operational projects.
- A member of the UK Management Team.
Requirements
- Proven success in an operational management role in the Maritime industry.
- Previous seagoing experience and hold a Master Mariner Unlimited or Chief Mate Unlimited license
- Strong skills in budget development and control.
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organisational control of operations.
- Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes.
- Must be a strategic thinker and excellent at building relationships
- Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications.
- Strong IT Skills.
- Basic understanding of UK employment law.
