Job Description

About the Opportunity;

My client, a global leader in the manufacturing industry is looking to recruit an experienced HR Manager on a 12 month FTC to join one of its most critical UK manufacturing sites based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. With a worldwide workforce, this organisation is at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and purpose-led growth. This is a high-impact, site-based role supporting a non-unionised site with employees across complex shift patterns. The site is undergoing a period of positive transformation, with a strong focus on leadership development, cultural maturity, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Include;

  • Act as a trusted HR partner to the site leadership team, delivering both strategic guidance and operational support.
  • Lead on absence management, recruitment, and retention strategies to ensure a stable and engaged workforce.
  • Manage complex employee relations issues with confidence, autonomy, and fairness.
  • Coach and develop line managers to build leadership capability and consistency across teams.
  • Support the reorganisation and optimisation of shift patterns, ensuring alignment with business needs and employee wellbeing.
  • Contribute to wider UK HR initiatives, including EDI, talent development, and employee engagement programmes.

The ideal candidate;

  • Proven HR generalist experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally site based.
  • Strong background in employee relations, change management, and organisational development.
  • Confident, pragmatic, and resilient, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead through ambiguity.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels, with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Passionate about people, culture, and continuous improvement, with a desire to make a lasting impact.
