We are currently recruiting a Principal Design Engineer – Hydraulics to lead a subgroup of Designers and Senior Designers within our expanding Powertrain department.
The successful candidate will oversee the concept layout, manage the detail design, and specify the sign-off testing for the hydraulics, fuel, and pneumatic systems.
As a Principal Design Engineer – Hydraulics , you will:
- Be an influential member of the department, holding authority for large engineering projects from concept to delivery, generating advanced, performant, and reliable designs within agreed timeframes.
- Support the Head of Department in setting and adhering to best practices; lead and coach Senior and Design Engineers.
- Govern and validate all engineering drawings and laminates according to defined standards and procedures within the group.
- Liaise with Program Managers to define deliverables, set workloads, and resource requirements to ensure targets are realistic and achievable.
- Take ownership of technical decision-making for the department when the Head of Department is unavailable.
- Participate in departmental recruitment, conduct individual performance reviews, and support development plans at the discretion of the Head of Department.
Our ideal candidate has:
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by top-level motorsport experience.
- Deep knowledge of hydraulic systems, sub-components, and their specifications.
- Experience with CAD, preferably Siemens NX & TEAMCENTER PLM; training will be provided for conversion from other CAD systems.
- Knowledge of fuel and pneumatic systems, and experience with software design tools such as Simulink.
- Experience with SPH fluid dynamics modelling software is advantageous.
- Extensive relevant experience with a strong understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to engage, inspire, and support individuals to build and maintain a high-performance team culture.
