ITV News is looking for a Senior Producer with a passion for Foreign News to join our award-winning international team. Working closely with Correspondents around the world, you will be responsible for producing agenda setting foreign coverage for all our platforms.
This is an amazing opportunity for a dynamic and experienced journalist who thrives on breaking news, seeks out exclusives, and has a deep understanding of foreign affairs. You will play a key role in editorial planning, newsgathering, and storytelling – often in challenging and unpredictable environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with teams to produce compelling, high-quality journalism from around the world
- Respond to breaking international stories with speed, accuracy, and creativity
- Produce bespoke coverage for a range of platforms – including television, digital, streaming services and social media
- Pitch, plan, and produce exclusive content and agenda setting interviews
- Travel at short notice to cover breaking news and events around the world
- Travel to conflict zones and natural disasters, sometimes for an extended and open-ended period
- Operate in hostile environments, often under pressure, while maintaining the highest editorial standards
- Ensure diverse and representative coverage that reflects the breadth of our audience
- Maintain, expand and build an excellent network of key fixers and technical contacts in strategic locations
- Identify key story themes that require a longer-term vision and drive an editorial strategy to deliver on key editorial projects
- Maintain an open dialogue with the long form, digital and streaming teams regarding future story ideas and to maximise the potential of key sends
- Plan trips, navigating all logistical considerations, and produce on location finding the best angles/elements for ITV News coverage
- Work independently and conduct interviews and pre- film for stories without the correspondent
- Embrace the challenges of new technology in driving forward and improving the reach of ITV News
- Research, select, and edit archive material

Key Requirements:
- Exceptional knowledge of foreign affairs and global current events
- Significant experience covering major international news stories
- Strong track record of producing distinctive and exclusive journalism
- Confident working in hostile or high-risk environments; hostile environment training is an asset
- Editorial leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and guide coverage
- Proven track record in producing bespoke content for all platforms
- Flexibility to travel frequently, often at short notice and for extended periods
- Good understanding of the ITV News ethos and culture
- Good communicator and team player, with a positive attitude
- Ideas for stories, angles, and treatments
- Confidence to travel at short notice, and operate unsupervised away from base
- Good knowledge of the processes around risk assessments and safety protocols when planning coverage and working abroad
- Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
