About the role
Are you ready to lead large-scale logistics operations and drive performance across two of our key Vehicle Operating Centres? We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced leader in Road Transport Management to take charge of our PRDC and Greenford sites, ensuring safe, legal, and efficient mail transportation across the network.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll manage a team of 9 Transport Managers and oversee up to 250 HGV and agency drivers, delivering operational excellence and continuous improvement across a complex and fast-paced environment.
What you\’ll be doing
• Ensure full compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements relating to fleet and vehicle operations, including holding and maintaining the site’s Operator’s Licence (O Licence) and acting as the lead Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) holder
• Lead the safe and compliant operation of fleet and distribution activities across both sites
• Embed World Class Mail principles and drive continuous improvement using KPI and balanced scorecard metrics
• Collaborate with Fleet and Asset Managers to optimise vehicle and container utilisation
• Coach and develop Transport Office Managers, ensuring high performance and strong employee engagement
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives, TfL and logistics partners including Logistics UK
• Drive team performance by leading, motivating and inspiring your team to deliver operational excellence, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
What you\’ll bring
• Proven leadership experience in parcel logistics and transport, or a related industry
• Strong knowledge of UK road transport legislation and safety standards
• CPC qualification and willingness to be named on the Operating Licence
• Experience managing large teams and driving results across a balanced scorecard
• Strategic planning, project management, and strong data analysis skills
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities
• Confidence in managing industrial relations and negotiating with union
