The role
Are you ready to dive into the world of cutting-edge video game development? Headquartered in Montreal, Behaviour Interactive is at the forefront of the gaming industry, crafting unforgettable experiences across PC, console, and mobile platforms. We’re a dynamic, independent studio of over 1200 passionate employees, with studios in Toronto (Behaviour Toronto), Rotterdam (Behaviour Rotterdam) and in the UK (Behaviour UK–North & South). Our day to day revolves around two core business focuses: Services and Original Games. Our Services team collaborates with gaming and entertainment giants like Disney, Sony, Activision, and Nintendo, delivering exceptional work-for-hire development and pioneering immersive location-based entertainment (LBE). Meanwhile, our Original Games unit pushes our creative limits, with our signature IPs, including the iconic Dead by Daylight . Join us and be a part of the future of interactive entertainment!
At Behaviour Interactive, we believe in giving everyone a fair shot. We embrace a diverse and creative environment where everyone is celebrated. We value folks of all ages, sex, ethnicity, colour, ethnic or national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, civil status, disability, or any other protected characteristics as per applicable law.
We’re looking for a Level Design Director to help us craft unforgettable worlds and then jump in to help build them. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll be deep in Unreal Engine, creating compelling gameplay spaces, establishing the design “recipe” for the game, and validating it in close collaboration with the Creative Director.
You’ll also mentor a small, passionate team of Level Designers offering feedback, sharing best practices, and helping elevate the quality of the entire project. But this isn’t a high-level oversight role. We’re looking for someone who lives in the tools, loves building moment-to-moment gameplay, and thrives when turning vision into playable worlds.
If you’re a Senior or Principal Level Designer ready to take on more ownership or a Director looking to get back into the craft —this might be exactly the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
In this role you will :
- Own the level design vision for Blight: Survival, from concept to shipping, while getting hands-on during development milestones and polish phases—rolling up your sleeves when the team needs you most.
- Translate game and narrative pillars into compelling level layouts, pacing, and encounters.
- Collaborate closely with the creative director and other designers to ensure a cohesive player experience.
- Champion world-building and gameplay flow, balancing combat, exploration and player choice.
- Ensure levels express the core themes of the game: tension, immersion, and co-op survival.
- Create documents and presentations focused on level design vision and structure for internal and external stakeholders.
What we\’re looking for :
- A seasoned Level Designer or Level Design Director with experience shipping PC/Console multiplayer games.
- A creative leader who can define vision and execute details.
- Experience working with Unreal engine;
- Comfortable working in lean, highly collaborative teams.
- Passionate about horror, medieval settings, and survival co-op games.
- Someone who is curious and aware of current level design trends as well as potential future ones.
