The main purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive financial management for Bradford Hospitals Charity, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial controls, and effective management of the Charity\’s financial position.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Charity Director, the post holder will lead the financial management of Bradford Hospitals Charity during its transition to independence, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and strategic financial planning in compliance with charity and NHS requirements.
The post holder will comply with both Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Fundraising Codes of Conduct and Codes of Best Practice.

Experience
- CCAB qualified accountant (or equivalent) or substantial equivalent experience
- Proven financial management, accounting, and budgetary control experience
- Experience in producing management and statutory accounts
- Knowledge of charity accounting and fund management
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Understanding of financial governance and controls
- Experience in staff supervision or line management
- Experience of working with a variety of communities and backgrounds
- Experience of working towards measurable objectives
- Experience with NHS financial systems and charity-specific regulations (e.g., Charity SORP)
- Knowledge of fundraising systems (e.g., Donorfy) and charity financial software (e.g., Harlequin)
- Experience supporting fund advisors and handling system/structural transitions
- Understanding of healthcare charity operations
Skills
- Strong strategic thinking, planning, and organisational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities
- Ability to interpret and apply regulations, data protection, and governance requirements to ensure legal and ethical compliance
