Site Manager – Shawclough Primary School

We are seeking an exceptional Site Manager to join our dedicated team at Shawclough Primary School. As our Site Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented school environment, ensuring that our children and staff can thrive in a positive and productive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the school and its grounds are secure, including during out-of-hours periods, and take appropriate remedial actions as required.
  • Act as a designated key holder, providing out-of-hours and emergency access to the school site.
  • Procure quotes for routine maintenance work on the school premises.
  • Contribute to the management of the premises budget.
  • Oversee and manage other site staff, including cleaning staff and groundskeepers.
  • Operate and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting, and security (including CCTV and alarms).
  • Undertake minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings and site.
  • Arrange emergency repairs and regular maintenance and safety checks.
  • Oversee on-site maintenance contractors, ensuring work is completed to the required standards and within the specified timescales.
  • Monitor materials and stock, and order supplies as needed.
  • Perform general portage duties, including moving furniture and equipment within the school.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH, and report any serious hazards to the line manager immediately.
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks of the buildings, grounds, fixtures, fittings, and equipment, in line with other schedules.
  • Handle small amounts of cash for the purchase of materials to carry out repairs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant experience in a similar site management or facilities management role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems and building management software.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
