Project Design Engineer – Architectural Lighting (Junior to Mid-Level)
Location: North London
Type: Full-time, Permanent

An innovative architectural lighting manufacturer is seeking a junior to mid-level Project Design Engineer to join their team in North London. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside project management and product development professionals on high-profile architectural projects across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge LED lighting systems.

Essential Skills:

  • Methodical and organised design approach with a keen eye for detail

  • Strong visual design awareness

  • Understanding of sustainable production methods

  • Commercially minded with an awareness of project costs and efficiencies

  • Effective communicator, able to liaise with in-house assembly teams, suppliers, subcontractors, lighting designers, and specifiers

  • Interest in design automation and AI in engineering is a plus

  • Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD, with hands-on experience

Experience & Knowledge:
Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Design, development, production, testing, and installation of LED architectural lighting systems (knowledge of electronics and software for LED control is advantageous)
    OR

  • Design and development of professional electronic equipment

  • Experience with low to medium volume batch production

  • Familiarity with mechanical production processes for plastics and metals, including rapid prototyping and finishing techniques

  • On-site experience working with contractors to resolve installation challenges is beneficial

Previous experience specifically within LED lighting system design and development is preferred but not essential-comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.
