We have a fantastic opportunity within our Energy business for an ambitious and talented Senior Technical Manager with experience of Substations
As the Substations Senior Technical Manager, you will report to the Head of Technical Services and take a leading role in delivering cutting-edge substation projects. This position offers the opportunity to:
- Provide technical leadership as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), setting strategic direction and ensuring excellence in project delivery.
- Manage operational teams, including Technical Managers, Senior General Foremen, General Foremen, and Technicians, driving performance and innovation.
- Oversee the safe and efficient execution of technical site activities, ensuring compliance with SHEQ standards, project budgets, and timelines.
- Promote a culture of innovation by challenging the status quo and supporting R&D efforts to enhance our capabilities.
- Drive workforce development, managing career progression, performance, and training for your team.
Requirements
You will be a Technical Subject Matter Expert with Substations and meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications: Relevant CSCS Card (Site Manager β Black), 5-day SMSTS certification, and First Aid at Work.
- Experience: Experience in end to end construction of electricity Transmission Substations; Extensive knowledge of construction methods, health and safety regulations, and best practices in delivering technical projects.
- Skills: Strong leadership, negotiation, and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Attributes: A results-oriented approach, excellent communication, and a passion for developing teams and driving innovation.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
