The opportunity:
The UK DevOps team is part of the UK Operations and IT function – driving technology delivery and change throughout the UK business. A team of 61 are aligned across four technology stacks: Salesforce, Mendix, MuleSoft, and SmartComm. The Mendix team consists of 15 developers, Business Analysts, and Administrators, with the responsibility of developing and maintaining a portfolio of enterprise-class applications, supporting 2,900 users.
Mendix is a strategic platform for Zurich, and applications are delivered using a blended model of internal, contractor, and delivery partner teams. The DevOps Mendix team has embraced new ways of working including Agile, DevOps practices, API-led development, and cloud-first.
Following a period of rapid expansion driven by increasing demand for digital transformation, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the DevOps team as the Mendix Solution Architect. This new senior role will provide technical leadership on the technologies and capabilities within the Mendix ecosystem – designing quality, scalable, reliable, and performant solutions within Mendix, ensuring they operate in a coherent and secure manner.
You will be accountable for a broad scope of activities including overseeing data modelling and migration, multi-Mendix Edition solutions, Connected Apps frameworks, declarative and programmatic best practice, UX, security, environment management, DevOps strategy and CI/CD pipelines, and deployments.
You will work as a bridge between Mendix and other technical teams and work closely with developers and Architecture to deliver large-scale complex solutions, as well as enhance and mature Mendix applications in BAU operational support.

What will you be doing?
· Mendix application architecture, design, and development.
· Data modelling, data migration, and data sharing.
· Design of multi-component (Mendix Edition) solutions.
· Connected App frameworks and AppStore solutions.
· Declarative and programmatic coding.
· Use of Mendix Industry Frameworks.
· User Experience (UX) design and implementation.
· Hand-offs to other systems.
· Environment and Sandbox strategies and management.
· DevOps strategy and CI/CD pipeline development.
· Release and deployment strategies.
· Integration patterns for moving data in and out of Mendix.
· Aligning Dev and Ops ‘DevOps’ practices and CI/CD pipeline design and execution.
What are they looking for?
· Experienced technical leadership in the design of complex multi-component Mendix Edition solutions.
· Strong leadership skills : integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, empathy, resilience, and influence.
· Strong problem-solving attitude and skills, as well as an aptitude for fostering positive relationships with programme management, co-workers, and workers within DevOps, UK IT, and the wider UK business.

· Experience of Mendix DevOps practices and building CI/CD pipelines.
· Evidence of Mendix evangelism and industry profile.
· Working within a hybrid team, with a diverse workforce.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills – pitching communication at the appropriate level to the audience, and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
· Minimum certification : Mendix Advanced Developer and Mendix Expert Developer.
· Evidence of recent (past three years) leadership and management training.
· At least five years in a Mendix technical role.
