Yorkshire Water are currently recruiting a Contract Technician on an 18 month secondment who will provide expert technical advice in relation to effective and efficient management of the Standpipe Hire Scheme to enable the effective resolution of complex issues, disputes and pursuing illegal usage cases. The role will provide support to the Fire Service Liaison regarding repairs to Fire Service assets on the Water Distribution Network whilst maintaining the integrity of Yorkshire Water assets and being fully compliant with appropriate guidelines and regulations

As our Contract Technician Standpipe Hire Scheme/ Fire Service Liaison you will
- Maintain and promote excellent relations with the Yorkshire Water Standpipe Scheme Service Partners
- Maintain and promote excellent relation with the Four Yorkshire Fire Services
- Dealing with applications for standpipes
- Resolve customer and colleague queries about the SHS and use of larger standpipes
- Monitor partner performance through data analysis, liaison meetings and visits to their site
- Ensure recovery of income is safeguarded
- Communication of SHS policies and process to YW and partner colleagues
- Ensure illegal connections are pursued through the legal process including court attendance
- Raise work as necessary from FS requests; from Field Techs and the public
- Liaison with the 4 Fire Service Authorities key YW stakeholders about queries, remedial works; charges; policies
- Ensure invoices are issued for rechargeable works
- Act as a point of contact for YW colleagues regarding fire hydrants; logger deployment and related assets (e.g. washouts)
- Maintain stock of S19 hydrant clamps and monitor units issued / fitted by Field
- Attend Fire Service liaison meetings and capture actions and minutes.
- Take personal responsibility for self and others with respect to health and safety, risk management and control of work to ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy
- Demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable out-performance for YW that rigorously achieves our vision to be clearly the best against demanding competitive industry benchmarks
- Provide clarity to internal and external customers on compliance to relevant legislation and regulation whilst maintaining professional relationships
- Attend internal and external meetings as required to represent Yorkshire Water where specialist knowledge is required
- Maintain good working relationships within Yorkshire Water to ensure the integrity of our assets is protected and delivered
- Ensure that all risk assessments are raised to the relevant department correctly and in a timely manner
- Produce accurate and relevant management information as and when required

- Knowledge of regulatory legislation and YW policies/processes in relation to the role
- Flexibility to assist the wider Operational Contracts Team

As part of this role there will be an expectation that you will be required to travel to our Normanton site 1-2 times per month to attend meetings using your own vehicle.
