Job Description
- Undertake robust screening and triage of referrals concerning children and young people aged 0–18.
- Assess and analyse risk using information from a range of multi-agency sources.
- Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and guidance to inform decision-making.
- Share and interpret information appropriately and lawfully with key partner agencies to ensure the safeguarding of children.
- Make timely, evidence-based recommendations regarding the threshold for intervention.
- Provide professional leadership and contribute to the development of social work practice within the Hub.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals to ensure a co-ordinated and effective response.
- Maintain accurate and high-quality records using the local authority’s IT systems.
- Support less experienced staff and contribute to a culture of learning and reflective practice.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
- Current Social Work England registration
- Substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory children and families work, including safeguarding
- Proven experience working in or alongside a MASH, Duty and Assessment, or Front Door team
- Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, thresholds, and statutory guidance
- Ability to assess and manage risk within a multi-agency context
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyse complex information and make sound, evidence-based decisions
- Strong IT skills and the ability to accurately record information on electronic case management systems
