EV Project Manager
Location: Central UK (Field-based with national travel)
Working Model: Hybrid / Field-based
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits
About the Company
Our client is a market-leading infrastructure business focused on accelerating the transition to clean transport through the rapid deployment of electric vehicle charging networks. With strategically located assets across key urban and transport nodes, they are investing heavily in the development of fast and ultra-rapid EV charging stations in partnership with leading commercial and retail property owners.
Job Purpose
As part of the company’s national EV charging rollout, the EV Project Manager will lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple EV charging installations at high-traffic retail and forecourt locations across the UK. The role involves coordinating with approved contractors, ensuring HSE compliance, and managing cost, time, and quality across each deployment.
This role is suited to a confident and commercially aware project manager who thrives in a fast-paced infrastructure delivery environment, with experience in managing construction or engineering works involving energy systems or retail environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Construction Management
- Oversee construction and commissioning of multiple concurrent EV charging installation projects
- Ensure delivery to agreed specifications, timelines, and budgets
- Manage post-planning implementation, including discharge of conditions and pre-start compliance
- Lead project launch meetings, coordinate pre-start site readiness and stakeholder alignment
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with CDM regulations, building codes, and health & safety procedures
- Review and approve RAMS and issue necessary permits
- Conduct contractor audits and regular site inspections to uphold safety and quality
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Appoint and manage principal contractors, designers, and third-party authorities
- Maintain close communication with local authorities, site operators, and internal teams
- Run biweekly site progress reviews and issue progress reports
Operational Readiness
- Oversee testing, snagging, and final commissioning
- Deliver “Go Live” training and transition EV equipment to site teams
- Track performance and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement
Knowledge & Skills Required
- Experience delivering EV infrastructure projects, ideally in a commercial or forecourt setting
- Working knowledge of CDM regulations, “Blue Book” guidance, and general building compliance
- Strong understanding of HSE protocols and contractor management best practice
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder coordination skills
- Confident in managing multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and project tracking tools
- Strong attention to detail and commercial acumen
Desirable Qualifications
- Construction or engineering qualification (e.g., HNC/HND or equivalent)
- EV, electrical, or energy-related certification or background
- Familiarity with local authority engagement, planning discharge, and utility coordination
