Job Purpose To assist in preparation, production and service of food as required under the supervision of the cook. To assist in the promotion of the ethos of better eating better learning within the school environment. Responsibilities Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for pupils. Preparing and serving meals to pupils and staff following food safety and service standards Promoting the ethos of Better Eating Better Learning Working as part of a team to ensure high standards of food hygiene for pupils Working alongside your team with no supervisory responsibility Working with your team with no budgetary responsibility Requirements Have an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or be willing to achieve it within 6 months Have experience working in a similar role Have experience with basic kitchen duties and awareness of how to safely use chemical agents Be able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in dining halls and kitchen Have knowledge of food portion control and be able to assist with food preparation and heating Possess customer care skills and be able to maintain confidentiality Be flexible, able to work unsupervised and as part of a team Important information Please note that the annual salary advertised is for a full-time role, based on 35.00/37.00 hours per week. If the position you are applying for is part time or you are only going to be working part of the year, i.e., a term time contract for 38 or 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis including a number of additional weeks for annual leave entitlement when the position is term time.
