Reed Further Education are currently registering learning support workers who are looking for work for next academic term.

We work with colleges across Swansea and South Wales. The roles are temporary ongoing during term times and hours can be part-time and full-time depending on availability at the college.

If you have previously worked within educational settings, FE, coaching, mentoring, sports activities, summer camps, tutoring, NHS, care or youth work then we’d really like to hear from you.

Job Title: Learning Support Worker

Position: Part-Time/Full-Time

Role type: Temporary Ongoing

Location: Port Talbot

Rate: £13.68p/h to £14.50p/h including holiday pay

Successful Teaching Assistants will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification as a Teaching Assistant – desirable
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English & Maths
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour
  • Experience working with adults/teenagers or children with special education needs
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Reed Compliance

Responsibilities:

  • To provide one-to-one support and supervision of students with special education needs/learning difficulties and disabilities within the classroom
  • To encourage the learners to excel to reach their full academic potential
  • To support learners with their literacy and numeracy
  • To create, monitor and review SMART targets
  • To manage challenging behaviour, where necessary
  • To maintain accurate records of learners’ progress
