West Calder High School is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Principal Teacher of Curriculum – Science. The successful candidate will support the vision for the school and implement strategies to achieve this vision. West Calder High School is a six-year non-denominational comprehensive school offering our students a progressive, relevant, challenging and enjoyable curriculum with opportunities for personalisation and choice. We are fully committed to engaging our students in their learning and make it a priority to ensure that all students have the opportunity to enjoy a high quality educational experience at West Calder High School. Current roll is in the region of 1185 pupils. We offer a wide and varied a curriculum, emphasising the need for learners to be as successful as possible in their attainment. The school building offers outstanding facilities including a theatre, swimming pool, dance studio and comprehensive music suite. Students are encouraged to make the most of these through our curriculum and numerous extra-curricular activities. West Calder High School offers the opportunity for all students to succeed. A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate. The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18.
