Who is Salvo?
We’re Salvo—proud to be the UK’s leading online Italian food wholesaler. Our story began in 1968, when our founder, Salvatore Cumbo, spotted a simple but powerful opportunity: helping London’s growing Italian restaurant scene source truly authentic ingredients. What started at his kitchen table soon became Britain’s first fine Italian food importing business.
Rooted in family values and a deep love for good food, Salvo has grown from a local supplier into a nationwide operation with four depots and a tech-enabled platform serving restaurants, pizzerias, hotels, and delis across the UK.
We’ve kept the warmth and personal touch of our early days while embracing innovation—whether that’s through our user-friendly app, late cut-off times, or expert customer care team. And yes, Salvatore’s original kitchen table still sits in our head office, reminding us of where it all began.
If you\’re excited to be part of a company with heritage, heart, and a bold vision for the future of food, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
We’re looking for a Supply Chain and Logistics Coordinator to join our Planning team in Cheshunt. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop hands-on experience across the full supply chain—from supplier coordination and stock tracking to order processing and inbound logistics.
You’ll work closely with our Senior Supply Chain Planner to keep the wheels turning, ensuring products arrive on time and in top condition for our UK customers in the restaurant and foodservice sectors.
Please note: this role requires Italian language skills, as you will regularly liaise with Italian suppliers to coordinate stock and logistics.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this varied and fast-paced role, you’ll gain practical experience across planning, purchasing, and supply chain operations. You’ll also contribute to forecasting and supplier management, with plenty of opportunities to grow and take on more responsibility over time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Stock & Inventory Support: Help track stock levels, flag discrepancies, and assist with daily reconciliations across third-party warehouses.
- Planning & Forecasting Assistance: Support data gathering for demand planning, analyse sales trends, and contribute to short-term forecasts.
- Supplier Coordination: Raise and track purchase orders in NAV, liaise with suppliers (many of whom are based in Italy), and help update lead times and delivery expectations.
- Transport & Logistics Support: Assist in coordinating inbound deliveries, sharing transport documents, and supporting load optimisation.
- Systems & Admin: Maintain accurate system data, support system improvement projects, and carry out day-to-day admin including order processing and documentation filing.
What We’re Looking For
You’re organised, curious, and keen to build a career in supply chain. You enjoy working with data, solving problems, and collaborating with others to get things done.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to have:
- Experience in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management
- Confidence using Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., NAV) or planning tools (e.g., Eazystock) is a bonus
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn
- Fluency in Italian—essential for effective communication with our Italian suppliers
Additional Information
During the training and probation period, you’ll need to split your time between our Cheshunt depot and our office in Herne Hill, South London (near Brixton). Travel costs to the London office will be covered during this time.
Hybrid working options will be agreed post probation, with most of the initial period expected to be office-based to support your learning and integration into the team.
