Salary: £82 – £95 per day (depending on experience)

A welcoming and dedicated SEN school in Southampton is looking for a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a long-term opportunity to work in a supportive, specialist setting with small class sizes of around 5-7 students, providing the extra attention and guidance they need to thrive.

This school supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a structured and nurturing environment to help them access education in a way that suits their individual needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you\’ll play a vital role in helping students build confidence, self-regulation skills, and a more positive approach to learning.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual needs

  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering a differentiated curriculum

  • Supporting students with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • Encouraging independence and supporting personal development

  • Maintaining a calm and consistent presence throughout the day
