Job Description

Opus people solutions on behalf of Suffolk County Council have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to jointheir Children's MASH Team.

Job Title: Social Worker – MASHLength of assignment: 3 MonthsHours per week: 37Hourly rate: £35-£40Location: Landmark House, IpswichRemote/Office based: Hybrid

About the Role:

Suffolk MASH receives and processes all safeguarding referrals of children at risk of harm and abuse.

It consists of around 60 professionals from health, police, fire services, education, social care, probation, youth justice, mental health services and housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct timely assessments of referrals received by the MASH team, identifying risks and making informed decisions about the level of intervention required.
  • Information Gathering: Work collaboratively with partner agencies such as police, health, and education to gather relevant information to support safeguarding decisions.
  • Safeguarding Response: Make clear and concise recommendations on safeguarding actions, including signposting to appropriate services or escalation for further child protection interventions.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Liaise with professionals from various sectors to ensure a coordinated response to child protection concerns, promoting the safety and welfare of children.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on case management systems, ensuring compliance with Suffolk County Council’s policies and safeguarding standards.
  • Crisis Management: Respond to urgent safeguarding concerns, managing risk effectively and ensuring immediate actions are taken to protect children from harm.
  • Legal Proceedings: Where necessary, prepare reports for court proceedings and represent the MASH team in legal matters relating to child protection.
