Finance Assistant – Part Time

Location: Bolton

Hours: circa 20-25 hours per week

Salary: circa £24,000- £28,000

We are currently recruiting for a proactive, detail- orientated, part time Finance Assistant to join to an established, employee-owned business, based in Bolton.

You will be responsible for managing customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts and assisting with financial processes. This is a varied role, which also includes providing essential support to the Finance Manager during month-end.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable and flexible, with strong communication skills, highly personable and a great team player.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively chase overdue invoices via telephone, email, and written correspondence
  • Maintain accurate records of customer communications and payment agreements
  • Accurately allocate incoming payments to customer accounts
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve invoice/payment queries
  • Monitor credit limits and propose changes based on account history
  • Prepare and maintain aged debtor reports; escalate high-risk accounts where necessary
  • Assist the Finance Manager with month-end tasks such as debtor reporting & commentary

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a varied transactional finance role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience supporting month-end processes is advantageous
