We have a fantastic opportunity at our Tewkesbury Campus for an experienced Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join the team on a full time (37.5 hours per week), term time only, permanent basis. This role is to mainly support a child with autism within a year group where there are a number of identified SEND students.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the pupils to whom you are assigned
  • To enable him/her to make best use of the educational opportunities available to them. Work may be carried out in the classroom, outside the main teaching area or via zoom into the home
  • To work towards pupils individualised targets as set out within the EHCP (Education and Healthcare Plan), in liaison with the class teacher and LSCO (Learning Support Coordinator)
  • To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This will involve joint-planning with teachers, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals / groups.
  • Deliver specific time limited interventions in small groups or 1:1
  • Monitor pupils progress and assessing, recording and reporting on pupil’s achievement, progress and development will be integral to this role
  • To work alongside specialist external professionals and integrate therapy where appropriate in the curriculum
  • To provide learning support within the context of our Self-Directed Learning Philosophy
  • To build and maintain successful relationships with pupils, treat them consistently and be concerned for their development as learners, supporting them and responding to their individual needs
  • Contribute to, share in and promote the wider and longer-term vision of OneSchool Global UK
  • Uphold and promulgate the OneSchool Global ethos within all areas of responsibility.

You Will

  • Have recent experience as a Learning Support Assistant or a similar role or have a relevant life-experience and passion for working with students aged 7+.
  • Have recent experience in Autism and experience of working with children with complex learning needs
  • Have knowledge, or willingness to learn, of the National curriculum and additional support needs.
  • Have experience of working with children/ young people of relevant age in a learning environment or relevant work experience with transferrable skills.
  • Have good communication skills written and verbal.
  • Set an example of positive personal integrity and professionalism, with positive, appropriate and effective communications and relationships at all levels.
  • Ensure high standards are maintained, progressed and promoted in all areas of work.
