Our long standing and well-respected client based on the outskirts of St Albans are looking for a Quantity Surveyor. This is an excellent opportunity, it is an exciting time to join the team as they are rapidly expanding!
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost and procurement associated with projects. The role requires expertise in estimating, contract awareness, budgeting, contract administration, cost planning, and value engineering, ensuring all works are delivered on time and within budget.
Primarily, you need to be able to have a strong understanding of the landscaping industry and an enthusiasm to learn and grow!

Key Responsibilities;
· Manage procurement processes including preparation of bills of quantities, tender documentation, and evaluation of contractor bids.
· Monitor and control project costs throughout the project lifecycle from inception to final account.
· Assess, value, and agree customer accounts, including variations and change orders.
· Assess, value, and agree subcontractor and supplier accounts, including variations and change orders.
· Prepare financial spreadsheet (CVR, CTC) Operations team to manage throughout the construction phase inc. material take-offs.
· Administer construction contracts, including NEC, JCT, and bespoke landscape-specific agreements.
· Ensure compliance with contractual terms and legislation including environmental and health & safety regulations.
· Produce monthly cost reports and forecasts to support commercial decisions.
· Liaise with clients, project managers, and site teams to ensure cost control and value delivery.
· Support risk management processes and advise on potential cost exposures.
What the client is looking for;
· Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
· MRICS or working toward chartered status (preferred)
· Minimum 3–5 years\’ experience in a QS role, with a strong focus on landscaping or external works
· Experience in residential, public realm, commercial, or infrastructure landscaping projects
· Strong knowledge of landscaping materials, specifications, and market rates
· Experience in pre- and post-contract quantity surveying duties
· Understanding of civil engineering drawings, planting schedules, and landscape specifications
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills
· Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
· Organised, with strong time management and multitasking skill
· Commercial acumen and proactive problem-solving ability
