Job Description

Data Operations Manager. Duration 6 months

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Data Operations Manager to lead a team of data engineers. You will oversee the daily operations of our data infrastructure and ensure the accuracy, availability, and security of data across the organization.

This role will lead a team of data engineers and analysts, manage data workflows, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making. You will support the Head of Data in the delivery of the data operations roadmap.

Key Responsibilities for the Data Operations Manager:

  • Data Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines, databases, and data warehouses.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and refine data operations processes to improve efficiency, scalability, reliability and observability.
  • Drive Engineering Excellence: Lead and manage all engineering activities across internal and external teams, ensuring high productivity and quality of execution.
  • AWS Expertise: Strong expertise across AWS products, including S3, Glue, Spark, DBT, Terraform, and Redshift.
  • Roadmap Prioritisation: Prioritize and manage engineering activities and personnel to deliver on a roadmap, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals as defined by the Head of Customer Data Operations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with business units, IT, and analytics teams to understand data needs and deliver timely solutions.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Implement monitoring tools and dashboards to track data flow, system performance, and issue resolution.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure data security protocols are followed and support audits and compliance initiatives.
  • Improvement and Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, methodology and data governance.
  • Standardisation of Delivery: Working with the Project Manager, understand, help define and standardise the approach, activities and artifacts required in order to deliver engineering activities; ensuring that all are robust, reliable and repeatable.

Qualifications & Skills for the Data Operations Manager:

  • Technology Degree with at least 5 years’ experience in data
  • Proven experience in managing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of AWS services and tools, including S3, Step Functions, Spark, DBT, Terraform, and Redshift.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Communication with stakeholders at all levels is essential.
  • A passion for innovation and a relentless drive for excellence.
