Homebirth Specialist Community Midwife.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a dedicated, qualified Midwife who wants to take responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of midwifery care for women and their families. We are now looking to complete the recruitment into our new home birth team\’, Working on a shift by shift basis, you’ll look after the coordination and effective management of the clinical team and guarantee the maintenance of high standards of quality care in the clinical area. As part of a specialist Homebirth Team, you’ll participate in the on-call rota for Homebirths and ensure there is effective and sensitive communication between the women in your care, their babies and families, and the health professionals you work with, the on call commitment will be an average of 2 on calls a week.

Saint Mary’s Managed Clinical Service (MCS) are proud to be the largest maternity service in the country providing care for women and birthing people across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas, supporting around 17,500 births each year, cared for by over 700 whole time equivalent midwives. Saint Mary\’s MCS is a well-known centre of excellence, with an excellent reputation and a vibrant, lively working atmosphere. We provide community antenatal & postnatal services across our main hospital sites (Saint Mary’s, Wythenshawe and North Manchester General Hospital).

Main duties of the job

Come and join the new Saint Mary\’s Specialist Community Homebirth Team, dedicated to providing a homebirth service for the families across Manchester

You will be part of a team of 8 midwives.

You will provide continuity of care to any woman booking for a homebirth across the North, Central & South Manchester areas

Your role will include case loading an additional 1 clinic per week for women in deprived areas across the MCS, helping to support positive health outcomes

It is expected you will have 2 on calls per week (one 1 st and one 2 nd )

Dedicated to providing an environment that encourages patient-centred involvement, you’ll promote good working relationships with all the internal and external departments you work with, with the ultimate aim of providing the best patient journey possible.
