Research Fellow in Decarbonisation of the Heritage Sector
The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy, and Resources is a research and teaching hub at University College London (UCL) that brings together four institutes to address global challenges in sustainability, energy, the built environment, and heritage. The Institute for Sustainable Heritage delivers sustainable solutions to real-world cultural heritage problems through ground-breaking, cross-disciplinary research and innovative teaching for future heritage leaders. From studying latest management policy to applying data science, analysing materials to using future studies, we train future heritage leaders in the skills needed to sustain cultural heritage for generations to come.
About the role
We are recruiting a Research Fellow in Decarbonisation of the Heritage Sector. This Fellow will be based in the UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage but will collaborate closely with leading sector organisations such as the V&A. The Fellow will be expected to develop and implement an innovative research programme on decarbonisation within galleries, libraries, archives, and museums, with a focus on Scope 3 emissions.
This Fellowship is made possible with support from Getty through its Getty Global Art and Sustainability Fellows initiative.

About you
A strong candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent in the subject area of heritage science, archaeology, heritage conservation or in the subject area of sustainable resources, decarbonisation, or carbon mitigation, and be independent and self-motivated. It is desirable for candidates to have experience of organising and running participatory workshops and stakeholder engagement.
