Purpose of the Role
Join the Whole Vehicle team as a Technical Manager – Verification & Validation Events. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for the detailed planning, delivery and execution of high-profile Bentley management drives and integration with wider VW Group test events. You will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise, ensuring that key business and product objectives are met while fostering innovation and continuous improvement. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of Bentley’s extraordinary products, working alongside senior leaders in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment. Reporting into the Functional Manager –Whole Vehicle Design & Functional Validation your main responsibilities include;

  • Accountable for project deliverables, achieving project milestones against key performance indicators including managing vehicle preparation and updates prior, during and post events, driving customer relevant concerns resolution through standard processes, manage outsourced work including suppliers and ensuring budgetary requirements are met
  • Develop and maintain specialist technical knowledge; ensure process improvement activity, provide technical direction cross-functionally across leaders, engineers and feature owners to support future development
  • Developing and influencing strategic validation direction; validation against attribute targets, advise on strategic opportunities, develop the strategic technical direction / technical roadmaps within the area
  • Develop and maintain relationships and communications between VW Group counterparts

About the Team The Whole Vehicle Validation and Quality team exists to protect the customer and brand by ensuring the engineering design meets whole vehicle product requirements prior to customer product release. They cover many aspects including static and dynamic evaluation across the R&D function, problem management, long-term durability, reliability and functional tests.

About you – Skills and Experience

This role offers a unique opportunity to regularly engage directly with our products during validation events, working closely with senior leaders across Research and Development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following key skills:

  • A broad and established technical understanding of the whole vehicle
  • Vehicle attribute assessment background is essential
  • Project management skills, ability to lead cross functionally to achieve project milestones
  • Communication, influencing, networking and collaboration skills amongst internal functions (up to Board), VW Group partners and external agencies
  • Flexibility to travel globally
  • Advanced driving qualification would be advantageous
  • An Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience
