Overview

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Accommodation Manager to join our site operations team based in Chelmsford. This is an exciting role to work alongside the Deputy Accommodation Manager, supporting a team of 9 staff members. We provide accommodation for NHS staff; there will be occasional lone working, however there is always someone around to support.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating via emails, bookings on KX, SAP procurement (raising PO), phone calls, site and block inspections, and support with compliance on site.
  • Line managing a team of General Assistants on tasks such as cleaning of communal areas, daily service cleans, and hotel‑style changeovers of accommodation on a daily basis.
  • Allocating tasks and managing workloads of general assistants to prioritise the needs of the business.
  • Completing finance tasks such as processing rent payments, invoices, and raising purchase orders.
  • Communicating with tenants and the wider team and dealing with queries to ensure they are dealt with in a professional and timely manner.
  • Providing quality customer service and reacting to queries as needed.
  • Working with other Assistant Accommodation Managers on monthly checks of buildings, raising repairs, completing inspections of void rooms, inspecting completed work, and completing periodic occupied room inspections.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external customers.
  • End of tenancy inspections and onboarding inspections. Liaison with stakeholders, managing and logging repairs.

Requirements and Skills

  • Professional, team‑oriented individual used to working in a fast‑paced environment with experience in a similar role. Self‑motivated, able to use initiative, and eager to learn new skills aligned with Sanctuary\’s values.
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of high‑quality accommodation operations or customer service.
  • Working knowledge of effective communication at all levels.
  • Some experience of managing staff and providing administrative support to the wider team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Previous experience of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook; ability to work on own initiative. Experience working with KX, SAP, and communications would be helpful.
  • Occasional travel may be a requirement; a full valid driving licence is essential.

  • £25,799 per annum with an additional policy allowance of £2,579 per annum (rising to £27,156 with an additional policy allowance of £2,715 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance).
