Salary Range: NLC 4-10 £24,984 – £45,696

We are the fourth largest local authority in Scotland, responsible for providing essential public services to North Lanarkshire. Our Finance service supports the delivery of the council\’s priorities to meet our communities\’ needs.

We seek a confident, enthusiastic individual eager to succeed in our Trainee Accountant Programme. This approximately three-year training scheme offers comprehensive experience in modern financial and accounting practices. Trainees will rotate through various Finance teams, gaining ground-up insights to contribute effectively to the Council\’s services. We are proud to be a Best Practice Employer and support your progression through the CIPFA Professional Accountancy Qualification (PAQ).

Applicants should have a Degree (or equivalent) or be fully AAT qualified, with a commitment to a career in local government finance. Essential qualities include numeracy, enthusiasm, confidence, strong research and analytical skills, workload management, clear written communication, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently or in a team is also required.

Note: Salary progression depends on successful completion of CIPFA PAQ stages.
