Job Description:
Wincanton is seeking a Class 2 Driver with a passion for customer service to join our 2-man home delivery team in Northampton. The role involves delivering kitchen and bathroom flatpack products for our Wickes contract, with occasional bulk item deliveries using a Class 2 HIAB vehicle, mainly during spring peak times.
Salary: £39,004.40 per annum plus yearly bonuses of £1,300.
Working days: Tuesday to Saturday, starting between 0400 and 0600, totaling 45 hours per week. Overtime is paid at the basic hourly rate.
Benefits include: 28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays), uniform and PPE, pension scheme, share incentive plan, discounts (breakdown cover, airport parking, EE Network), childcare vouchers, and medical cash plans.
Referral bonus: £500 for recommending a lorry driver friend, with the friend receiving £250.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive company vehicles and operate equipment safely and professionally, complying with policies and legislation.
- Ensure vehicle security and follow procedures.
- Perform vehicle and equipment checks before operation, reporting defects.
- Report delivery issues promptly.
- Report to the traffic office on return for debriefing.
- Self-manage and use initiative to solve problems.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including accident and incident reporting.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid in-date Class 2 license.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Full Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC).
- Minimum 6 months Class 2 driving experience.
- Positive, flexible attitude towards work.
- Good timekeeping skills, ability to work unsupervised.
- DBS check will be undertaken.
- Physical capability for heavy manual handling, as the role is physically demanding.
