Your duties will be the day-to-day operation of the post holders allocated vehicle, transferring loads to landfill and other processing plants by artic bulk trailers from Friarton Depot, and any other outlying PKC Depots in Crieff, Blairgowrie & Pitlochry as and when required, the collection and delivery of various types of recycling materials associated with the Councils kerb side collection schemes, recycling centres and recycling points.

The vehicle you will be allocated to will be uplifting Municipal Waste and various Recyclable, however, we require flexibility to cope with the demands of the service and therefore, you will be required to uplift other types of waste or work on different vehicles a that includes 8, 6, and 4 wheeled ridge vehicles and the operating of the ancillary equipment of these vehicles at the discretion of your line manager.

You will be required to comply with the safe systems of work for Waste Disposal.

This role operates on a shift pattern and the contracted shift pattern for this post is Friday – Monday (36hrs). To comply with all Road Transport Regulations and to provide a continuous service 7 days a week you will be required to work at weekends.

Skills & Experience Required

An LGV CE driving licence and a full CPC is essential.

It would be an advantage to have Plant / Machinery experience that may include loading shovel, telescopic loading shovel and forklift, Hiab and driving left hand drive vehicles as the job includes the day-to-day operation of the site loading shovel, the loading of various types of waste and recycling materials into trailers and de-mountable containers / Skips within the transfer station on a daily basis .

To be successful in this role you must be capable of carrying out the physical demands of the post and be able to communicate effectively with team members and the public. You will have a strong constitution with regards to adverse odours and must have a flexible approach to the job and be prepared to work overtime.
