Job Description

Field Service Engineer — Electrical Bias (Packaging & Automation Systems)

Base: £40,000 – £45,000 + Overtime (door-to-door) | OTE: £55k+ | Hybrid vehicle | 25 days holiday + bank holidays | Bonus | Pension (3% matched)

Location: UK-wide travel (average 1 night away per week)

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting customers across the UK with:

  • Installation and commissioning of new systems
  • Routine service, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and breakdown support
  • Electrical fault finding, wiring, and re-wiring (3-phase, 415V)
  • Working on actuators, motors, sensors, and HMIs (inputs/outputs)
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics
  • Supporting control systems and network integration

You’ll enjoy a varied, autonomous role with limited overnight stays (average one night per week), offering a strong work-life balance.

About You

  • Electrically biased engineer with a recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Confident working on 3-phase (415V) machinery
  • Able to read electrical diagrams and carry out complex fault finding
  • Experience with actuators, sensors, motors, and control systems
  • Customer-focused, professional, and flexible to travel
